“What the Truck?!?” Interview

Two days ago our President and Founder, Mike Ritzema, guest-starred on ‘What the Truck?!?’ a show about all things trucking that streams on Freight Waves. Dooner and Vincent brought up the ATA article “The Truth About Trucking Turnover” which argued that driver turnover is actually a good sign because it’s empowering the drivers. The hosts of “What the Truck?!?” asked Mike what his take on the ATA article was.

“I think that [the ATA article] was trying to say that the turnover doesn’t mean that people are leaving the industry at the rate of the turnover, and that was kind of their central point, but they go through all this other nonsense to get there. And it just made me crazy.

You guys are supposed to be the leaders, you’re the ATA, and you’re supposed to be the voice of reason, and the voice of the industry. They made it sound like turnover is no big deal and it’s not. Changing a job is a very stressful event because there are so many unknowns. And the ATA makes it sound like a good thing because of the opportunity to bounce around to whatever trucking company they want.”
